Central Arizona sprayed around 12 hits, including three doubles and got the pitching they needed to take a 7-6 win on Friday afternoon to tie the best-of-three Division I Regional series with Yavapai.

But it wasn't that simple.

The Roughriders took a 6-2 lead after five innings and then something happened.

"Strand was unbelievable today" said head coach Anthony Gilich.

Zane Strand threw the final four innings without giving up a hit and striking out five batters, just what you'd want from a reliever when you need to make a very, very important comeback.

Which is exactly what Central did.

The Vaqueros scored five times in the top of the seventh to take a 7-6 lead and it ended that way.

Brennan Reback started the come-back inning being hit with a pitch. Catcher Jake Meyer singled and then third baseman Ian Raidy rapped a double to right scoring Reback. Still nobody out when lead-off hitter Liam Spence earned a base-on-balls, and Clayton Keyes came up with a big-two-run single to center.

Ernny Ordonez singled Keyes home with a banger off the wall and was out advancing to second, but the game was tied at six. With Ordonez on third and one out, Zach Hogueisson got the ball in the air deeply to score the go-ahead run.

The series is now tied at a game apiece with the Division I Regional championship being played today at noon at Paradise Valley Community College.
